In September, Clarke American updated its Loving Reflections™ cause-related check design in continued support of the fight against breast cancer, just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The new design features the signature pink foiled ribbon on an elegant pink swirled background. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the check, coordinating label and cover supports The Cancer Therapy and Research Center (CTRC) and Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, who provide research, education and support for anyone touched by breast cancer.

Now a 2 1/2 year breast cancer survivor, Caldwell provided input into the design and development of the Loving Reflections check that was first introduced by the company in 2002. “Clarke American, through its Loving Reflections products, is passionately committed to supporting research, education and families across our nation who are touched by this disease.”

The American Cancer Society estimates that one in seven women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Approximately 212,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States this year, and 40,000 will die of the disease. However, according to a June 2005 Business Week report, greater progress has been made in the fight against breast cancer than against any other cancer in the past few years. For example, recent developments in post-surgical treatments can significantly lower the breast cancer death rate for women in the early stages of the disease.

This October marks more than 20 years that National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has helped further the awareness about early breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment. National Mammography Day, which is recognized on the third Friday of October each year, will be celebrated October 21 this year.
